Organic Millet

Description

Our organic millet is grown by Ryan Durand near Notre Dame de Lourdes, Manitoba, and is cleaned, dehulled and packaged by Adagio Acres.

Millet is a tiny grass seed, originally grown in China and Africa.  Although millet is not super common in North American diets, it’s a wonderful grain that can be used to replace rice in savoury dishes or cooked as a porridge.  It has a very mild, neutral flavour, that my kids tend to prefer over some of the other “weird” grains that I try feeding them 🙂

Although the millet is grown on a farm that also grows wheat/barley/rye, the crop has been cleaned and processed in a gluten free facility, and so potential for cross contamination with gluten is extremely minimal and this crop would be suitable for adding to a gluten free diet.
