Organic Sunflower Oil (1L)

Organic Sunflower Oil, grown and pressed by Deruyck’s Top of the Hill Farm.

Sunfower Oil has been grown and cold pressed by Ploughshares Farms until last year, when local millers, Dan and Fran Deruyck, took over the helm and set up the oil press at their organic grain farm and seed cleaning facility near Treherne MB.  The press was still in transition last year, so we had to do without this incredible oil for an entire year…not an easy feat!  I love sunflower oil for the mild flavour that makes it a great all-purpose oil, useful for baking, frying, roasting, and everything in between.  I usually get myself a 8L pail for my year’s supply of oil, and I generally use it to replace not-so-local olive oil and coconut oils in most recipes.
