Hi my name is Eli and I live at Adagio Acres. I have a herd of twelve Icelandic sheep, plus their lambs.  In the spring, just before their lambs are born, we shear off their winter fleece (this helps to keep them cool when the weather gets warmer). Then I sort out the bits of hay and dirt and send the fleeces to Longway Homestead near Anola, where they have a small wool mill to process the fleece into yarn. The yarn is the natural colour of my sheep’s wool, and is all spun in the Lopi style.  Black and white spotted sheep give a grey yarn!

Each skein is 100g and costs $22. You can choose which colour of wool and which sheep you’d like your yarn from.

This is our sheep after they were sheared. The white sheep with black spots (Ivar and BaaBaa) give the grey wool.

Our brown yarn comes from Mrs. Wormwood, the brown and white ewe. The black yarn comes from Skuggi, the black sheep.

Colour

Grey (Bulky Weight from Ivar or BaaBaa), Black (Bulky Weight from Skuggi), White (DK-Worsted Weight – from Esmerelda), Brown (DK-Worsted Weight from Mrs. Wormwood)
