Whole flax seeds can be ground into flaxmeal to add to oatmeal, baking (like in this crowd favourite “folk fest cookie“), smoothies, or for a nutritional boost to toppings…or just about anything! For the brave, there’s flaxmilk, or even flax hair products! Because flax has a high oil content (read: lots of protein!), it is best ground fresh before using, or kept in the freezer after being ground.

This super simple snack has revolutionized the way that I use flax, which used to be just a few sprinkles here and there. This pudding makes a fantastic quick breakfast, or a high protein snack for any time of day!
Combine:
1/3 cup ground flax
2/3 cup dairy or dairy alternative
1 tsp honey, maple syrup or sweetener
1/4 tsp vanilla or 1 tsp cocoa powder
Let sit for half an hour, or overnight.
Top with fresh or frozen fruit and enjoy!
