Our Unmilled Naked Oats are left in their whole form so they can be used for sprouting or home milling. After harvest, they are “cleaned” (the process of removing straw, chaff, weed seeds, etc.) but then are not milled or heat processed so they are still a living grain. Whole oats can be milled at home, cooked whole like a grain of rice, or sprouted!
We are taking a break from grain milling to go on a bike-trip adventure with our kiddos!!!
Yay for us, but not so great for your porridge pots….we will not be filling website orders until we return in mid-March. If you do choose to place an order, we will keep it on hold and will get in touch after March 17th to arrange home deliveries or a pick-up location in Winnipeg. Additional grains from our winter CSA will also be available to order after we return.
In the meantime, our 9kg bags of oats are available at Stonewall Family Foods, Local Meats & Tasty Treats on St Anne’s Rd, Nature’s Farm in Steinbach, and can also be ordered through Fireweed Food Co-op or De Luca’s on McGillivray Ave. Thanks for your patience and understanding as we take some time away.
